This survival horror game released in June 2012 as an opener ( beta ) for Microsoft Windows and OS X , which utilizes the Unity engine . Slender : The Eight Pages begins when players are in the woods at night . Players are given a flashlight that provision should be used as necessary . Players can run for a while and do not get out of breath . There are 10 landmarks scattered throughout the forest, including vehicles , buildings , giant trees , stones , brick walls , a stone pillars , tunnels , tree felling , and the fuel tank . Players are also able to travel in all directions .
The objective of the game is the player given a mission to find eight pages that are attached to landmarks scattered around the neighborhood bounded fence . Players can not interact with the others because it is an individual game , apart from the control of movement . The controls are available only to turn the flashlight on and off , took the pages , and walked or ran . Then the new version adds control the zoom controls to enlarge the view of the player through the camera , the standard mythology , in which the Slender Man can be seen .
End of the game varies depending on the version being played , but in the version no player is able to defeat the Slender Man .
